Reminder: Spain IS a Constitutional Monarchy

The blog Royal World explains some of the facts of life about King Juan Carlos I, abortion and the constitutional monarchy in Spain. Why oh why do so many monarchists seem to show so much zeal tearing down monarchs and other monarchists rather than focusing on the real enemy?

  1. Well, I certainly don't want to "tear down" monarchs and other monarchists, but I cannot really agree with Mr. Harvey on this point. True, modern constitutional monarchs are very weak, royal assent has more or less been reduced to a formality, and resistance would stir up a storm of trouble and probably end up destroying the monarchy utterly. Yet, I still think that signing a law inevitably involves the monarch in some share of moral responsibility for the contents.

  2. I would like to see more principled stands taken myself but when society as a whole has gotten to the point that it has, even if they did refuse to sign I don't see how that would solve anything. They would be deposed, the monarchy would be lost and the bill would become law anyway. They will have to answer for their actions like the rest of us in any event. My primary point is that these things should not turn one against a monarch and I think we are both on the same page on that score. You still think the Belgian monarchy is woth having around I trust.

  3. I would tend to agree with Harvey on this one. though I do realise that we need mroe Principled Monarchs, the truth is we can't havwe them and expect them to remain Monarchs. Not in the present time anyway. Look at Luxembourge. We are elucky they retained the Archduke. He turned down an Immoral Euthanasia Bill on COncience, refusign to sign it, and so they simply removed the need for hsi Signature.

What we really need is ot Delegitimise peopels addiction to the concept of Decoracy, boost their Moral Values, and make sure they understand that Fredom vcomes form Just Laws, NOT Voting.

Then, if the peopel are moral and walkign with God, and thye realise we need a just external authority that sint swayed by Popualr opinion, can we see mroe Restorations and more Kings and Queens who yeild real power. Until then, we are stuck with the degeneratign influence of Democracy.

  4. I would just like to make clear, again if I have, that there is a big difference between disapproving of the actions or inactions of a monarch and outright opposition to said monarch. As I've said, there are plenty of laws in virtually every monarchy in Europe that I wish had not been passed and that I would have rather seen the monarchs at least voice some opposition to or take a stand on. However, that doesn't mean I stop supporting them and that's the important difference.

  5. I agree with you on this point. What many seem not to be able to understand is that we can't restorete order in which a Monarchs position is secure, he has real power, and Governments act accordgn to Moral Dictates by getting rid of a Monarchy and building a Republic. Republics are Vehicles for Moral COrruption and tend ot demonise the concept of Monarchy. Its always better to work within the existing Framework of an established Monarchy.
