The King has an interesting expression in this one, half-smiling, half-serious. I'm also quite fond of the painting of Louis IX by El Greco.
Looks actually like he's perplexed at something someone said, but is smiling to cover for his confusion... Maybe I'm over-thinking it?One of my favorite Kings for sure.
I like the El Greco painting as well but chose this one because I'd never seen it before whereas the El Greco seems more widespread.
Haven't seen this one before...he's an ancestor of mine. Very interesting painting for sure.
