You see BR -this is why I don't often bring up Leopold II. You get very upset at anything that is in any way critical of one of your beloved kings while everyone else in the world, like Jay here, thinks he was evil incarnate and get very upset if I say anything remotely fair about the man. It's a no-win situation for me.
Don't get me wrong. I don't think that he was "evil incarnate". I don't see the world in morally dualistic terms. I understand that you cannot always deem a person to be strictly good or strictly evil. I just believe that he did some very unjust things.
This is a bit off-topic, but His Majesty, the King of Tonga, George Tupou V, was declared dead earlier today.
