Yes, and hardly anyone knows it. Even I was surprised when I read more about her. Her ladies-in-waiting said she was the embodiment of kindness and compassion and was especially fond of children (she was always sad that she never had any). At times she would visit the homes of ordinary peasants to talk to them and if they had children she would be especially generous to them. But, as Charles Laughton said in "Mutiny on the Bounty", "You would make an excellent historian doctor; you have a profound contempt for facts". C'est la vie
