There are, of course, a few names from the republican era that can stir up proud feelings but they are relatively unknown when compared to the likes of Augustus, Trajan, Hadrian, Marcus Aurelius, Constantine the Great etc & so forth.
I must admit, even a Monarchist like me finds it very hard to say anything negative about Cincinnatus, his model of good governance is truly an inspiration.
