As religious as my sensibilities are, I can't help but think it's funny to write the word "happy" over a picture of three men being crucified. Seems ironic, even if its not.
And while it is indeed ironic that we say "Happy Good Friday", when Good Friday is the day Our Lord died, the entirety of our faith is ironic. I mean, seriously, whoever thought that starting anything by dying was so effective?
Of course, the not staying dead part helps (and a happy Easter to all).
May God Be With Thee on hi most Somber of Holy Days. Amen.

ReplyDeleteBut yes, Happy Good Friday.
Thanks for this. My adult baptism is today (Saturday) in the old Traditionalist Roman Rite. Best wishes for all at the Mad Monarchist.
ReplyDeleteEver prayed for a "happy death"? What would be totally out of place would be telling someone to have a "merry Good Friday".
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Petya, on joining the Catholic Church.
ReplyDeleteThank you. So I just had my Baptism and my First Communion and will have my Confirmation at the end of June. Glad to be part of the Church. :-)
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the Faith, Petya.
