The Empire of Austria came into being in 1804 as the primary successor state of the dissolved Holy Roman Empire. In 1867 the Kingdom of Hungary was given full autonomy and partner status with Austria under the Hapsburg Crown and the realm became known as the "Dual-Monarchy" of Austria-Hungary. It existed until 1918 when the defeat of Austria-Hungary in World War I brought about the break up of the Hapsburg dominions. The national anthem was written in 1797 in celebration of the birthday of the Holy Roman Emperor Francis II who later became Kaiser Franz I of Austria.
National Anthem of Austria-Hungary: Gott Erhalte Unser Kaiser
If I remember correctly, there was a separate Hungarian national anthem during the days of the Dual Monarchy. This anthem I heard at the funeral of an expatriate Hungarian aristocrat (Australian-domiciled) in Sydney 21 years ago.
