"Being in a minority, even a minority of one, did not make you mad. There was truth and there was untruth, and if you clung to the truth even against the whole world, you were not mad." - George Orwell, 1984I can surly assure that there will never be 1984 if there is the existing of monarchy. All that is needed for the evil to triumph is for the good to do nothing. You should keep doing what you think is right. I hope the 1984 quote can keep you spirit of promoting monarchy. Best wishes.
This is the first time I comment in your blog, fellow mad man. I assure you your work is highly appreciated in very different corners of the world. Keep up with the good work and keep the spirits high, for past and future glory my friend.May the Lord bless you,A friend from the once glorious Viceroyalty of Peru
So true, sadly. Also you hiatus has forced me to do some of my own research do you know founding father of the USA Alexander Hamilton was a monarchist?
He does, actually. Take a look:http://madmonarchist.blogspot.com/search/label/Alexander%20Hamilton
It's interesting that you should ask this question... I came to this (now defunct?) blog just to ask if our dear Mad Monarchist had read this article, and to discern his thoughts on it... http://www.historytoday.com/frank-prochaska/american-monarchy
Personally, I don’t think that you are mad; it is the world that seems to have gone mad. Besides, this is a free country. You can rave and rant all you want on any subject you want but I have found most of your blog to be informative, illuminating and fascinating. In short, it’s good stuff. So I hope and pray that you’ll come back and resume this blog, In the meantime, I don’t know if you already know about this but Global Post has posted an opinion from a political affairs consultant from Brussels under the title, “A consitutional monarchy may be the [ only ] realistic option for [ the stability of ] Libya”. You can read it at : http://www.globalpost.com/dispatches/globalpost-blogs/commentary/constitutional-monarchy-may-be-realistic-for-stability-libya.
Fascinating! Thank you for posting this, I was not aware that there was ever even discussion on this subject. It will never fail to confuse me how constitutional monarchy, a form of government with historical precedent in many nations and merit of its own accord, is never considered a "legitimate' option in situations like Libya. Interesting that others are seemingly adopting this viewpoint now. It is not a difficult conclusion to reach given that Libya as a nation was defined by Idris first.
I only had very limited access to the internet for the past four weeks, so I wasn’t able to visit my favorite blog. But somehow I felt that when I came back here, something like this would have happened in the meantime – there were many signs in the past few months. It is sad, but perfectly understandable. Just let me thank you for the great work, I can’t tell you how much it means to me (and certainly many others around the globe), it is not only educating, but also shows me, that I’m not the only madman out there. Take your time off, reflect the situation – and whatever your decision will be, it will be the right one. God bless you!
I apologize for not commenting earlier (I suffer from an anxiety disorder that often makes it uncomfortable for me to write), but you can consider me another "passive" fan of your excellent website! Although I have almost always had a soft spot for monarchy, not long ago, I considered myself to be primarily a libertarian and an ardent German/U.S. nationalist politically and, as far as my spirituality was concerned, I essentially vacillated between lapsed evangelical Christianity and agnosticism. However, due in part to my dramatic conversion to Roman Catholicism and to your blog, I now consider myself to be a proud paleoconservative pan-monarchist. Your intelligently written and well-researched articles have also influenced my views of more specific subjects as well, such as my increasing my respect for the Bonapartes thanks to your articles “The Bonaparte Crusader”, “Monarch Profile: Emperor Napoleon III of France”, and “Emperor Napoleon: Some Thoughts”, convincing me that King Louis XVI was not just an innocent victim of revolutionary extremism but a pretty bright monarch, strengthened my admiration of Blessed Kaiser Karl of Austria through virtually every article in which you mention him, and have even caused me to be skeptical of whether or not the United States should have ever split away from the British Empire! I have learned a huge amount of history from your blog, a trait that I appreciate very much that many other monarchist websites seem to lack. Anyhow, I obviously hope that you continue to publish your fantastic and interesting work, but if you do decide to retire, then may God bless your future projects!
Come back dear Mad Monarchist! I miss reading my favorite blog every day. Your site is the most wonderful source of monarchist writings on the net. Not a day goes by that I do not miss your 'madness.' I know I speak for many others when I say we are eagerly awaiting your return!
Sir, If you no longer have the desire to maintain this most excellent resource and salvation of the heart for the traditionalists of the world, perhaps an organisation devoted unrepentantly to the white cause of the world could be entertained?
I wish you would come back off strike. I miss true opinions on the role of monarchy
Are you aware that the Kingdom of Scotland may be about to regain Indepedence? If the vote is "Yes" on 18 Sept Scotland will of course remain a Monarchy as that is the wish of most Scots, however is it time for a restoration of our Stuarts - one of the oldest Royal Houses in Europe? Mind you we'd have to find one first!
The royal House of Stuart has been extinct since Henry Benedict Stuart died in 1807. The heir to the Jacobite claim is Franz, Duke of Bavaria- King Francis II to Jacobites. I pray that independence will be rejected on 18th September, because mark my words, once they've succeeded in tearing down the union the SNP will set their sights on the monarchy, Scotland's oldest institution.
The SNP are a bunch of closet republicans, if Scotland gains independence (but stays an EU sub-state, which is what they want to do) they'll go republic and stay republic, and they'll just be another republican sub-state reliant on EU aid.
I do wish you come off strike as well, I do believe that us monarchists do need to stand united in such dark times.
Return to us Mad One, if God is with us then who can be against us?
