Well, SOME politicians do. Usually the ones with conservative policies and monarchist leanings, at any rate (Charles de Gaulle comes to mind, my only favorite President).
I didn't. That is the late King Baudouin of the Belgians in the picture and he was chosen for his refusal to grant royal assent to an abortion bill (most famously) and for being, in general, a man known for his strong principles and moral convictions.
What about President Gabriel Garcia Moreno? Eventhough I am a Monarchist, I would not dare say he did not have principles: the man was practically a Saint and a blessing unto Ecuador.
I don't count Moreno as a real "politician" because he was actually a monarchist -something that is not widely known. While in office he was planning to import a Spanish prince to become King of Ecuador. Napoleon III has also toyed with the idea of helping in this area to create a pro-French "Kingdom of the Andes". I agree, Garcia Moreno was a great man.
