That was a result of a fit of outrage over how often I hear people glorifying revolution. Nine times out of ten revolutions bring nothing but death, suffering and worse oppression than ever existed before. I thought to make something to reflect that in a simple, blatant way.
Then you have a better reason than most to understand and to be justly proud. There are few events, in my mind, in the entirety of history so noble, pure and heroic as the rising in the Vendee. Their staunch loyalty, their courage, their understanding of the relationship between monarchy and the divine, their willing sacrifice was at the same time inspiring, tragic and beautiful.
No, it hadn't occurred to me (I'm not particularly impressed with myself) but there are several Australians that I know of who read this blog and anyone can send anyone whatever link they like. If anything I do can help the monarchist cause in any country I would be only too thrilled about it.

ReplyDeleteGrim, indeed, but sadly true. My name is Vendéen, simple French peasants if there ever were any. Did the French Revolution do us any good? No, it drowned us in the Loire.
