One Foot in at Least

Yes, The Mad Monarchist is still alive and kicking, or just alive anyway. Will it be back to the old routine? Certainly not, at least not for now. I have enjoyed my time off too much and been too often reminded of what drove me to step back in the first place. However, posting will begin again very shortly. The difference will be that, for now, posts will be few, far between and probably erratic by which I mean there will be no regular schedule to keep to but that they will come now and then as I find the time and am moved to post them. If I can find some way to avoid the strain on my nerves it may be possible to do more but, for the time being, I will not be making any changes like disabling the comment section or shutting down the Facebook page as I have been tempted to do. For the moment, I will simply be posting less frequently, saying what I please, when I please and see how that goes. The standard of judgement for that, I will keep to myself as undoubtedly no one wants to hear any more of my troubles or complaints. I had wondered if I would be able to stay away after doing this for so long and, after more than a month, I have found out that I certainly can and have had no trouble filling my time as well as receiving regular reminders that I am probably just not cut out for this sort of thing. So, I am placing myself under no pressure, I do have a couple of articles ready to post and anyone interested can watch this space as, for the time being, there will be the occasional updates to it again. My heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who voiced their support, I can honestly say that, limited as my return may be, it would not be happening at all without you. I appreciate all of you who have stuck it out through this dry spell and would just encourage everyone to keep any expectations low.

Remember, you are not dealing with a "well" person but

  1. Thank you for the update. I don't believe I have commented before, but I wanted to make sure you knew that I enjoy your posts and how thorough you are in researching / writing them. Although I will miss not getting as much content, I'll know that the less frequent posts will be more of a treat.

  3. Welcome back, its been a rough couple of weeks. Honestly, I'm surprised you kept up such a hectic pace for as long as you did, it no doubt created all sorts of undue/unwelcome stress for what is ultimately supposed to be a labor of love. I think I speak for all your readers when I say we don't really care about how frequently you post so long as you're posting at all. Quality over quantity, you've been doing both so far, but prioritizing the first one is just fine. People always need to come first, yourself included.

  4. MM, don't know if my first post got through, if this is a duplicate ignore it.

Glad to see you back MM. I almost voiced my support, but whenever I finished typing it just wasn't quite right, it wasn't quite what I meant. Also, I figured there was no particular rush; a "voicing support" post later on into your strike after the "voicing support" posts had trickled down might have been worth more then an immediate one.

Maybe I should have just said something simple like "Sad to see you go, if you're going. Whatever you do from here on, godspead MM."

    1. I wasn't going to ask you to come back tough. As nice as it is to have you back, as much as it's in my selfish interests to have you back, you've contributed way more then your fair share to humanity, and it sounds like you've suffered for it. Much as I hate to say it, if you ever want or need to retire from this website, you've earned it. Hope you don't retire for a long long time, but if you ever need to retire, do so.

  5. So good to have you back! If your posts do not come as regular as they did in the past, your readers will appreciate them even more. I certainly will, since it gives me more time to reflect what you have written and eventually do my own research on the subjects. Run your blog as you feel adequate, even if it’s in a more “despotic” way (which would only be appropriate for the Mad Monarchist). Car tel est notre bon plaisir – as the French kings used to say.

  6. Good to see you back again, even if it is only in the limited fashion you are informing us of. I completely understand your reluctance to return full time to blogging, many of the same reasons you gave were what drove me to simply cease blogging altogether. Still, I'd be lying if I said I did not miss your work.

  7. Welcome back MM! I was praying in Eucharistic Adoration for you. I am glad that you are back in the ring. Keep a good spirit and don't give up!

  8. It's good to have you back. I very much enjoy your writing and your non-conforming-to-the-masses attitude. I guess that makes you MAD.
