Mad Motivation: Republicanism

  1. 1984 was the first "serious" book that i read, as a teenager. George Orwell saw the future more clearly than any of his contemporaries, overthrowing Monarchy in the name of "freedom" simply leads to a new and worse form of serfdom.

  3. Don't forget stealing from one segment of society to give to another, created a situation where you are always in power and crush to productive classes into poverty, causing economic chaos that you tell the voters can only be cured by more Taxes.

Yep, that's I system I want, "Vote for me and I give you Poverty"

Actually, No Thanks, I will stick with Monarchy and Aristocracy instead, they are a foundation which a Nation can prosper.

  4. The problem with Orwell, though, was that he actually was a socialist who really didn't have much problems with the east. 1984 was supposed to present a vision of Britain becoming conquered by the United States as a natural result of its becoming too heavily dependent on American military and economic support. The name of the country, Airstrip One, was a play on Orwell's belief that the United States saw the UK as little more than a military hub for anti-Soviet defense.

  5. That's true. Given that, much of what he predicted has come to pass. One thing that goes hand in hand with republicans and revolutionary agitators though is that they tolerate and sometimes even defend and champion behavior which they would decry if it was done by anyone other than a socialist republic.

  6. All the above indeed true. In fairness to Orwell, he saw the Soviet evil for what it was, and I believe he wasn't against the monarchy either. And Communist regimes persecuted anti-Communist leftists as much as rightists.

What MadMonarchist says is true, the elitist Left in the West highlights what they see is the "evils" of the West and cry crocodile tears for their comrades, all the while caring nothing for the innocent victims of Communist barbarity. Partly as a result, I do have mixed feelings of American Cold War foreign policy despite my general defence of it and my own steadfast anti-Communism. For instance, I certainly don't approve of the kind of military dictatorships that were common in that period. But the abuses of many regimes in that era can only be used by us to champion monarchism and argue against republicanism.
