  1. I thought for a moment that she was very tall until I realized she was being raised up.
On an unrelated note, this youtube video might be amusing to fellow monarchists: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5s0aUNokyo&list=FLI9F13X5uaPU4IzzixixJGQ&index=1

  2. Finally!!!! The Yogyakarta Royals are mentioned in this Blog. Thank you MM.

BTW, this is NOT Jakarta Royals. This is Royals from Sultanate of Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat aka Yogyakarta Provinces in The Republic of Indonesia. Its an old Sultanate that the legacy has been dated back from the glorious Majapahit Empire in the 13-16th century.

And this is the only provinces in Indonesia where its Monarch still have considerable power. The Sultan of Yogyakarta also serve as the Governor of Yogyakarta with The Pakualam Regency act as the Vice Governor

And believe me, this is one of the MOST stable and prosperous province in Indonesia. The Yogyakarta People really love their Monarch.

  3. Yes, there has been a revival of monarchy in Indonesia after the abolition of all monarchies outside Java after independence, many are now being restored. Mainly because it symbolises a rejection of the authoritarian regimes of Sukarno and Suharto and their essentially hegemonic character.

Hamengkubuwono X played a part in the Reformasi movement that brought down Suharto, he could possibly run for President in 2014 (he considered doing so in 2009) when SBY is ineligible for a third term. His father was Vice-President for one term in the 70s.
