MM Video: Catholic Monarchy

A short video response to the Catholic bashers of monarchy. Know your faith and the history of your own Church. The Catholic Church has always supported monarchy, endorsed monarchy and been on the side of the monarchists. From Europe to the Americas the Church has always opposed revolutionary republicans and numerous popes and saints have openly endorsed monarchism. Catholics who think the Church opposes monarchy need to get past the post-60's hippie movement and read into the history and traditions of the Church for centuries back.

  1. The Orthodox Church has historically been monarchist in its sympathies as well. The vast majority of the bishops in Russia Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania are known to support royal restoration.

  2. That is true of course and I've never heard Orthodox Christians bashing monarchy on the basis of Orthodoxy which is why I felt no need to highlight the connection. I have seen, on the other hand, many confused Catholics take swipes at their monarchs and oppose monarchy, both lay and clerical, which is why I was prompted to make this video.

  3. I think that we who honor the ideal of sacred monarchy are still swimming against the tide. But I devoutly hope that this may change, perhaps even in our lifetimes. Not here in the US - that is too much to hope for, of course. But in lands where the monarchy has or had a long-standing history.

  4. Obviously I totally agree. Not to do so would be to simply give up and admit defeat. We can also take comfort in the fact that, in the broad scope of Christian history, the rampant republicanism of the last century in particular is a recent and (so-far) short-lived innovation compared to the more than a thousand years of Christian monarchial tradition. When the faith is truly revived so also will sacred monarchy.
