It's Another Queen for Sweden

A happy day today as the royal court announces that HRH Crown Princess Victoria is lighter a baby girl. At 4:26 this AM TRH Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel welcomed their firstborn into the world, a lovely daughter, coming in at 51cm and 3.2kg at the Karolinska University Hospital. Congratulations to the proud parents! Long live the future Queen of Sweden!

    1. I'm sure you know that's the way I think it should be but, alas, I don't write the laws in Sweden (and if I did Sweden would likely be declared a 'rogue state' and I would need an army of Swiss mercenaries to prevent me being torn to bits!)

    2. I know. Usually laws are not retroactive...but in their case it was. I think HRH Carl Philip got robbed.

  3. Let us hope that by then there will still be a Sweden in which she can reign... not an Sultanate of Swedistan, in which she will be executed for not accepting Islam, or confined to the women's quarters if she does.

    1. I would like to say you're just being paranoid but, alas, the demographics prevent me...

    2. Since the Constitutional changes in 1975, the Swedish Monarchy has been reduced to a shadow of it`s former self, yet despite this, the presence of the Monarchy did play a part in preventing Sweden from becoming an east-european socialist state, under the SAP, and this is surely the reason for the SAP`s continual hostility towards the Swedish King and his family.

  4. Huzzah.
So I hear it is no longer to be the House of Bernadotte?
Such is the problem with gender-inclusive succession. To me, I'm sure you can imagine it is a bit of poetic justice.

Good luck to the future Queen though, I'm anything if not a forgiving man.

    1. Well, that depends on how you see it. HRH Prince Daniel, coming from a family of common blood, was upon his marriage to HRH the Crown Princess for all intents and purposes "adopted" by the House of Bernadotte so that the House could continue. In ways this is similar to the situation in for example Belgium, where the House of Saxe-Coburg & Gotha is now "The House of Belgium", and always will be.
Having ruled for over 200 years the House of Bernadotte is intrinsically bound to the Silver Throne of Sweden and probably always will be, and the children of the Crown Princely couple will belong to that dynasty, regardless of if it technically true or not.
Though if it is any consolation, the de-facto House of Westling wil only last for the lifetime of this new princess. Here's hoping she will actually marry a royal. :)

  5. So what is this succession law change I keep hearing about? Can somebody explain? :(

And happy birthday to the new princess of Sweden!

    1. It refers to the change years ago by which the eldest child was to succeed to the throne rather than the eldest male. So, for a short time, Prince Carl Philip was heir to the throne of his father until the law was passed at which time his elder sister Victoria became Crown Princess and future Queen of Sweden.

  6. The new hereditary princess' name and holding was announced two hours ago. So now I can say long live Her Royal Highness Princess Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary, duchess of Östergötland!
