I have no idea how tall King Albert I actually was, but in virtually every picture I've seen of him he's towering over everyone else. A favorite of mine is a wartime photo of him with the *very* short King of Italy -it's hilarious. I never saw Leopold III in enough group shots to notice his height but he certainly had that "prince charming" look about it.
I think Leopold had the grace of his elf-like mother, Queen Elisabeth. But he was very tall himself, it was remarked on that whenever he entered a room, everything around him seemed small in comparison.

ReplyDeleteIt always strikes me in photos of the period that King Albert looks very tall, in a rather awkward way, while his son looks tall and elegant.
