That's why most Greeks know the distorted view of history and not the real one. On the other hand if there was a prize for political stupidity then H.M. the King would have won by landslide! His recent message to the Greek people was to vote for the parties who support the European Union..what can i say?Kirkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11773451802098247012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-40888338061792406572012-02-27T19:32:28.405-06:002012-02-27T19:32:28.405-06:00So the Greeks are still obsessing over the fact th...So the Greeks are still obsessing over the fact that the Greek royal family wasn't ethnically Greek? As you stated in the article, the royal family was at least culturally Greek, for they had been born and raised in Greece for generations. They accepted Greek traditions, customs and culture as their own. The shallowness of modernists never ceases to amaze me.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-24113159549754275902012-02-22T17:12:29.843-06:002012-02-22T17:12:29.843-06:00The way the Greek Royal family have been treated s...The way the Greek Royal family have been treated since 1967 is truly shamefull. The republicans, like all leftists, spout high principles and superior morality, yet they resort to the lowest behaviour imaginable. I feel sorry for the ordinary Greek, they have been betrayed by their own corrupt political class, a class which is now recieving it`s just desserts.C. When King Constantine intervened in politics it was always, *always* to maintain the system of checks and balances and prevent any sort of tyranny. The military junta treated him as a potential enemy from the very begining and, of course, ultimately proved the point. King Constantine was also one of many, many "last" monarchs who refused to resort to violence to maintain themselves, yet, they never get credit for that.MadMonarchisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08083008336883267870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-92132874421892421672012-02-21T18:18:03.888-06:002012-02-21T18:18:03.888-06:00I never understood the whole "insufficiently&...I never understood the whole "insufficiently" Greek thing to begin with, frankly its at least as dumb as British republicans complaining about the Queen not being British. Constantine was born in Greece, his father was born in Greece, he speaks Greek as his first language, was baptized into the Greek Orthodox church. You have to go all the way back to Otto in 1862 to find a Greek king that wasn't born and raised in Greece, what, 150 years in a country isn't enough for people? Its pure intolerance is what it is, we (monarchists) just need to be better at throwing the left's words back at them when appropriate.

What ticks me off even more is when they try to present Constantine as some sort of cruel tyrant or dictator, or willing collaborator with the junta - if any of that was true, he might have actually been able to save his crown. It was precisely his refusal to cooperate with the generals and return from exile as a puppet monarch that led to the monarchy being abolished in the first place, while it was his own concern for his people and his country that prevented him from risking civil war with an effective counter-coup.

It goes to prove the notion that modern social democracies have no friends, only convenient allies. Politicians will kick anyone to the curb as soon as it better suits their own end, whether its their very own lawful sovereign, or the leader of a foreign state, or a captain of industry. All are expendable in the name of votes and the preservation of power.Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08368547834849724343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-71105270336149744122012-02-20T07:38:36.073-06:002012-02-20T07:38:36.073-06:00The simple fact is that Greece has reached the fin...The simple fact is that Greece has reached the final stage of a Democracy's life, Kleptocracy, which is what Democracy is all about, the elected officials steal from one segment of the population to give to another, so they can keep getting reelected (and get considerably richer in the process).

Sadly it has taken the collapse of Greece to show many that a Monarchy has greater Freedom than Democracies. A Monarch is charged with the well being of this people, and so doesn't worry about if X will tick off Voter block C.

A monarch is a stabilizing element in society, he (or she) doesn't run in country in to the ground and then try to bow out after the Germans have given your country a boatload of cash, and you try to leave with as much of it as possible.

I pray no more violence comes to Greece, but I fear the Death of Democracy will be a very sad affair for the innocent.

Down with Kleptocracy!
Up with Righteous Monarchy!Kc Lionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06466253913797380767noreply@blogger.com
