It's not really a judgment, it was just an opinion. :)

Yes, modernism in heresy; I didn't mean it that way, maybe a better expression would be 'too modern' or 'liberal'. After all, Pope Paul VI and the two JPs did the most harm to our Church. Let's hope for a restoration. Pray for Benedict XVI and his coronation!

And let's not forget; the Church is not the clergy.Petrus Augustinushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03296159071531531990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-19066766686379566052011-12-01T20:10:11.061-06:002011-12-01T20:10:11.061-06:00The way most people who use the word "moderni...The way most people who use the word "modernist" it is a very serious accusation. When you're up on the Pontifex Maximus level, I would not think it my place to pass judgment. If any of the popes were modernists and modernism is a heresy then they would have been heretical popes. So, either God picked a heretic to have supreme authority over His Church or maybe the Orthodox are correct and no one bishop is really any more special than another.

I don't see how Catholics help themselves when sitting in judgment on a pope. I try to be generous when evaluating royals or popes, recognizing that they are just a bit above my pay grade.MadMonarchisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08083008336883267870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-6366705100622404232011-12-01T11:54:36.037-06:002011-12-01T11:54:36.037-06:00Well, not necessarily, Petrus Augutinus. I think he may have took his "humility" thing a bit far at times, but there's really no telling what he might have done concerning other aspects of the Church, like the issue of homosexuality, contraception, celibacy, liturgical concerns or political leanings. After all, we've had Popes even more humble than he (that one who made a new law so that he could resign, for example).

For all we know, he might have wanted to emphasize traditionalism, unlike JP II, who was a bit modernist in his own way.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-72678836225358751862011-12-01T09:32:42.629-06:002011-12-01T09:32:42.629-06:00He sounds like a modernist..He sounds like a modernist..Petrus Augustinushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03296159071531531990noreply@blogger.com
