The truth is that Hungary was against it but Austria favored it. Austria hoped it would end the Slav problem while Hungary feared it would lessen their status if the Slavs were given political equality. What would have happened we can never know but Serbia was occupied until the end of the war.MadMonarchisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08083008336883267870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-2358376722859747782013-03-08T12:00:07.414-06:002013-03-08T12:00:07.414-06:00The total absorption of Serbia was the exact oppos...The total absorption of Serbia was the exact opposit of the Austro-Hungarian war aim because that was the precice reason István Tisza, prime minister of Hungary didn't want to go to war and he only agreed when the Emperor-King promised him that Austria-Hungary would not annex Serbia.Petrus Augustinushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03296159071531531990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-12763054653267382682013-03-08T07:50:00.461-06:002013-03-08T07:50:00.461-06:00But, then again, the annexation of Serbia would ha...But, then again, the annexation of Serbia would have just been yet another reason to embrace Trialism between Austrians, Hungarians, and Slavs in the empire, potentially settling that issue once and for all.TexanCounterRevolutionaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00653018161206892898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-14900057562951786142013-03-07T22:54:04.506-06:002013-03-07T22:54:04.506-06:00I would agree, though the official Austro-Hungaria...I would agree, though the official Austro-Hungarian war aim was the total absorption of Serbia. That would have probably been quite difficult in the long-term but perhaps still better than the situation as it was with some Serbs in and some Serbs out. The minorities were not always a problem but if they were a minority with a "motherland" right next door, that could be problematic. Even today, Serbs and Croats still very bitter and resentful against each other for all the wars and ethnic cleansing that happened even though they are both Slavic and speak the same language. IMO, Croatia should have stayed with the Habsburg and Hungary while Serbia should have stayed a separate monarchy.Ulf Jarlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13809295086187092020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-80519542722857942982013-03-07T12:58:08.839-06:002013-03-07T12:58:08.839-06:00Dont forget Hungarians in Yugoslavia, from the 100...Dont forget Hungarians in Yugoslavia, from the 1000 years old Hungarian Kingdom we were forced to join Yugoslavia.

We were not slavs (alike the germans in Yugoslavia who were murdered and expelled from their homes)
so we had no rights, still today we are second class citizens.

I have some relatives who were killed by Tito's partisans.

Tito cleared out our intellectuals and then flattered us with some rights and some kind of good living so many forget his sins because of this.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10835897219102452100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-50089430789783072352013-03-07T07:42:04.961-06:002013-03-07T07:42:04.961-06:00Tito is romanticized because he kept Yugoslavia to...Tito is romanticized because he kept Yugoslavia together. However, the majority of the people that romanticize him are Serbians, most likely because Tito was a Serbian that kept together a Serbian entity...

I do not know what he did to the other constituent republics, but I do know that in my country of Macedonia, Tito arrested the top officials for plans to break away from Yugoslavia, become capitalists, and seek American protection. All of that before World War II was even over! I would have been overjoyed if that really happened, but it didn't. Instead, 25,000 people were murdered in the "Bloody Christmas" killing.

One thing I would give credit to Tito for is banning turbo-folk. The American equivalent of turbo-folk is mainstream media pop, rap, and hip-hop, combined into one hideous music genre.

Markohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01601740819464902353noreply@blogger.com
