That being said, things are better in Hungary compared to other places and I think it would be reasonable to assume that the revival of the national spirit Hungary has seen in recent years could have happened sooner with a King of Hungary as a living link to that glorious past.

In a strange way, the late Archduke might have been less adamant about certain things had he been a constitutional monarch rather than a politician and might have felt obliged or actually been obliged to remain silent on political matters.MadMonarchisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08083008336883267870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-65281860782104831782016-09-28T22:10:32.907-05:002016-09-28T22:10:32.907-05:00At the fall of Communism I had hoped Archduke Otto...At the fall of Communism I had hoped Archduke Otto von Habsburg had been invited to take the Hungarian throne. He was a brilliant man and I felt he would have made a fine guiding hand to take Hungary from communism to democracy. In light of current events, in particular the Merkel-led invasion of Europe, would he have made Hungary too liberal to defend herself? Granted he would not be alive now but, considering your vast knowledge, would his influence and his son's pro-EU leanings have led Hungary into the same mess Germany is in now?Charleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12031973472077814562noreply@blogger.com
