What infuriates me, even moreso that more people don't see it, is that the socialist attitude in these cases in destroying the very people they claim to be helping. In the US it seems blatantly obvious when a politician like Obama will not allow the poor minority students access to better private schools as an alternative to their horrid government ones, but wants to increase the welfare the state gives them. In other words, they don't want anyone to really improve themselves and better their lot in life but just depend on the government to give them a check. As I said, the same principle could apply to any group. Giving anyone something for nothing does not help them it simply robs them of their dignity.MadMonarchisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08083008336883267870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8783969302315257415.post-544641431555364082009-11-25T07:18:51.323-06:002009-11-25T07:18:51.323-06:00Actually, much the same can be said of the Aborigi...Actually, much the same can be said of the Aboriginal Australians down here. When John Howard sent in the army and the police to enforce bans on alcohol and petrol sniffing, guess what the socialists at uni called for? Yep, 'End the intervention'.

Frankly, I think that it provides a better solution. If nothing will come of simply carrot approaches, the stick must be employed. It's 'the carrot AND stick', approach, not 'the carrot, and maybe the stick but I'm too nice a guy to use a stick... maybe a plushie instead' approach.

This underlines a problem with all of modern socialism - it completely forgets that sometimes, tough love can be good. Socialism presents a superficial appeal of being kind and good to your fellow man, but once you realise that there are a few matters of practicality that are there (money, pride and independence being prime among them), you begin to see socialism for the hollow, decayed theory it is.

Beyond that, once you realise that it is based out of hypocrisy too (I watched a movie once where a formerly wealthy Russian found his home had been locked up and appropriated by the local communist government 'in the name of the people'. The man grabbed a shovel, as I recall, and cried 'I'm one of the people too' as he lunged to break the locks on his home), you realise just how silly the entire Marxist ideology is. It takes time, but a thorough questioning shows it quite truly wanting.

Perhaps it is ironic that a society as superficial as ours is dominated by a political ideology as superficial as Marxism. The government we deserve indeed...Professor Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00659779116600213901noreply@blogger.com
