Notice how pro-israel think tanks churn out all this propaganda why the US must be assertively involved in all the Middle Eastern affairs - on THEIR side, of course - and the arguments are drummed in over and over by those who copy these very biased opinions onto blogs, quote them in articles, etc. Few people generate any novel approaches out of laziness, handing over responsibility to the same neo-con group which led America off the tracks in Iraq.
That's where the leftists come in. They are so used to being against anything that America does that they look to the opposite side of the equation, correctly saying in this case: "Is this war at all WORTH it? Why??"
The answer is, a resounding NO.
It's such a long subject I don't want to bore anyone here. But out of hatred for Communism and love of the very special Afghan people, I on my own went into the Soviet war in Afghanistan to try to write about it and raise interest by writing articles. People were sound asleep at that time about the Soviet occupation - and they are the same today, even more shockingly so.
There is so much propaganda in the American media that the average reader will never go beyond that to ask critically: "What is a REAL purpose for occupying Afghanistan? Is this what the US should be throwing away trillions of dollars for, even in the best of times? What does Afghanistan REALLY have to do with terrorism threatening the US?"
In a nutshell the answer is, little if anything!
Only the socialists got this point.

About monarchy, yes, absolutely.
Not many apprehend this. However, I gratefully recall an Afghan intellectual friend, always maintained that monarchy was the best system, the only one around which Afghans could unite. A common sense solution.
The last King, Zahir Shah, now deceased, has relatives who could be candidates for an Afghan throne.
But official US circles are so hostile to monarchy that this option was never seriously considered.
Instead everyone in the world is supposed to immediately worship democracy almost as their God, which to me is crazy.
The US is not a shining example of democracy in action itself! There are many good points, but to foist that flawed system on traditional cultures is tragic.
An Afghan monarch would HAVE to be devoted to Islam, though. He could not be secular, which is the only thing American and European circles would accept. But it's obvious that is the only way monarchy could last if it were restored.
Again, Americans are so hateful of even the word Muslim that they won't tolerate that. But what was it that caused Afghans to throw out the Red Army when Eastern Europeans barely rebelled?
Devotion to Islam, and to the freedom of their country.
A side note: today is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. In reality there is much more written, and far more reverentially, about the Holy Virgin Mary in the Quran than in the Bible! Muslims love Her, go in mass numbers to Lourdes, Fatima, etc. Why are they so scary? Because they are believers in God, and love Jesus and Mary, perhaps?!
The US should cut losses and get out of a place where it has no business being.
There are sinister interests at stake which have little to do with terrorism, but even if those are meant to help the American people with cheap oil and gas prices, it's a futile waste of time.
Better to treat Iran much better. These are my areas of study, so I have devoted much thought to these topics.
I'm glad you agree about the getting out of Afghanistan. But the fact is we should never have been there to begin with!Christinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07374826052990530184noreply@blogger.com
